ABOUT MICHELLE

Michelle MacKenzie is a writer, mom, wife, and lifelong observer of the absurdities of everyday life. 

When an unexpected layoff turned her world upside down, she did what any reasonably functioning adult would do: panicked a little, laughed when she could, and started writing.

She writes about work, marriage, family, identity, and the ridiculous situations we somehow find ourselves in. 

When she's not writing, she's juggling work, family, home life, and the wonderfully chaotic world of youth baseball. She lives near the beach and believes most problems can be improved with a good laugh, a little perspective, and occasionally a drink 

THE STORIES

I was unexpectedly laid off. Suddenly, I had no job, no schedule, and way too much time on my hands. I put on sweatpants and started writing.

That became Out of Office — and apparently, I wasn’t done writing about the ridiculous parts of life. Because, ya know, my husband provides me with plenty of material.

These days, I write about whatever makes me laugh, drives me crazy, or makes me think, “Well, this should probably be a story.”

Out of Office is the first book, but hopefully not the last.
